Vice Minister of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development

  At 11am on November 8th, 2012, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development Chen Dawei, Vice-governor of Hubei province Cao Guangjing, Director of City Construction Division Lu Kehua, and Mayor of Wuhan Tang Liangzhi, as well as other leaders inspected the construction site of Kinghome Jinkou landfill restoration project. The 10th China(Wuhan)International Garden EXPO will be held on a great landfills in Jinhou(Wuhan). Kinghome and Tsinghua University undertook the task of restoring this landfill.

  Aerobic-ecological restoration technology, the most advanced technology in the world has been adopted to successfully restore an old landfill, changing the stinking landfill with large amount of leachate and methane gas to a thickly forested ecological park.

  Till now, the restoration project of the main venue has been finished, met the requirement and has been accepted.  the publicizing of the aerobic-ecological restoration is smoothly carried on. Specially-appointed expert of the Garden EXPO, Professor Chen Zhulei from Huazhong University of Science and Technology briefly introduced Wuhan Jinkou landfill ecological restoration project, answered the questions including landfill pollution, advanced aerobic technology, project progress and so on. Director of Kinghome consortium Dr. Shao Jingbang reported the advantage of aerobic technology, features of the restoration processing, as well as detailed information of the project construction and operation. From the result of the initial operation, the project meets the design requirement and brings obvious restoration effect.

  The garden EXPO will be held in next autumn, which will last for 6 months. The construction work is busily carried on. The ecological restoration of the main venue--Jinkou landfill is accomplished. All vice-provincial cities, Hong kong, macao and taiwan will join the exposition. Among the 82 cities and district, 21 have entered the site and began construction. Water and electricity facilities needed for construction has been installed. The public green space has formed, with 7000 tree seeding and 22630 bamboos seeding. By then, 11 communities, 134000 citizens living in low-rent Housing will benefit. Wuhan will take the opportunity of the Gardening EXPO to construct Wuhan green road, Zhanggongti Urban Forest Park, third circulation line green belt to benefit all citizens, according to the strategy of “Afforesting overall area around the garden”.

  Vice director of City Construction Division Chen Zhenzhen, president of Wuhan Garden Bureau Su nibing, vice-president of Wuhan Garden Bureau Peng tao, accompanied in the inspection.
